Full disclosure - my husband and I had never been to a Club Med before, and so had no feelings (positive or negative) about the "Club Med Experience". We had selected Miches because of it's "eco-luxury" branding and the unspoiled location.
If you are looking for a place where you can walk on untouched beaches and feel like you are the only couple in the world, this is a fantastic place for you... for now. At low tide, you can walk along the shore in either direction, for MILES, and encounter only beach and ocean on one side and jungle on the other. It was incredibly beautiful and serene. Unfortunately, it was clear that this tropical paradise is going to disappear soon - there are already a couple of new (and honestly, not particularly nice) resorts on the adjoining beaches, and there are resort development plans for the entire area, and so soon this paradise will be a thing of the past.
The resort, though, is very well situated in a natural cove at the end of a headland, which makes it feel very private and secluded (and even once the other resorts come, you won't be able to see them from the Club Med). The resort beach has plenty of beach (and pool) seating and quite a few trees... this was such an unexpectedly valuable amenity, as people would move to shady spots to relax in the heat of the afternoon. We always found we could find a good spot with comfy chairs! Also, in reading reviews we thought there might be some sand fleas (and brought bug repellent in preparation), but we were there in February and not bothered in the slightest by insects of any kind.
The resort itself was lovely - well designed and relatively small-scale, with TONS of amazing amenities and activities. Tennis, pickleball, yoga, bocce, water sports, archery, mini-golf, trapeze... so much to try, and everyone was kind and welcoming even to newbies. Every day was full of adventures and new experiences. This was a great resort for kids - so much for them to do, and so many ways to make friends! We were travelling as a couple, and there were some adult-only spaces (including the wonderful and eco-friendly freshwater pool), but we didn't feel the need for them - the children there weren't out of control or overwhelming, just happily part of the mix.
The resort clearly caters to cosmopolitan (and European) travelers - there were just as many French-speakers as English-speakers, and as someone who speaks English, some French, and almost no Spanish, I found I could muddle through happily with almost everyone in that tri-lingual community (note though that some staff speak French and Spanish but not English... almost everyone spoke two languages but not always three). People (guests and staff) were polite, friendly and interested but not intrusive.
The food was very good - there weren't that many choices compared to a big resort, but the buffet-style restaurant served extremely high quality food, and the other, smaller places each had a different vibe and were very pleasant. It was pretty easy to find food at all times of day, and there were lots of quality healthy options (including daily juices and smoothies), and a Dominican food station.
The "Club Med spirit" was a thing we weren't expecting and didn't know much about... and to be honest, I'm not sure it's really our thing - we're not big "organized frivolity" people. That said, everyone seemed quite happy to let us do our own thing, and except for a few moments here and there (e.g., organized dancing by the pool some afternoons, or more people wearing a particular color in the evening than usual) there wasn't much of a difference from other resorts. My sense was that it was there if you want to get into it (and is a good way to get to know people), but if it isn't your jam no one is trying to force you to join in. We did enjoy some of the evening entertainment, but mostly went to bed early (and didn't have any trouble doing so).
Our room was big and pleasant, with a nice bedroom and separate seating area, luxurious bath. Our one "gripe" was that our ground floor room had a mildewy smell. We got a dehumidifier from reception and that helped, but it never really went away. If we were to go back, we would try to stay in an upper level unit (all the units are low-rise, so 2nd floor is about as high as it gets) or splurge on an Archipelago room (which seem to be set a little higher above ground level). The rooms were kept very clean.
Overall, this was a wonderful, high quality resort with lots of amenities in a fantastic untouched (for now) location. Would definitely return.
