Michès Playa Esmeralda Dominican Republic

We spent a total of 4 weeks at the Playa Esmeralda resort in 2026. Many thanks to CDV Harrison and his whole team for creating a great atmosphere in the village. Special thanks to the tennis team (Juan Carlos, Joel & Enzo) for hitting some balls with us (Court #4 is officially ours now... :-)). Many, many thanks to Executive Chef Lenny, Chef Julio and the rest of the team (Oscar, Leonardo, etc.) for the great food during our stay and the special treat on our last night. We may have gained a few extra pounds during our stay. In addition, many thanks to the folks at the Coco Plum and Cayuco bar (Issa, Angelo, Hilda, Julio, Adonis, etc.). The yoga classes at the treetop hut after tennis, and the Dominican dance classes (Edwar and Naya) were awesome. We will be back in 2027!

The stay in Miches was delightful. The resort is beautiful and definitely feels remote despite having such enormous resorts next door. The feel is incredibly intimate and the facilities are still relatively top notch. The resort was definitely gearing up for an offseason of repairs and renewal as we had some initial issues with the room. However the staff were attentive and considerate in these circumstances. The spa was not completely functional and menus were starting to wind down. Nevertheless everyone had an amazing time. We had a 5yo and 3yo and both attended club activities. The 5yo enjoyed a lot of the programming but at times felt he was a little bit babied. The 3yo was definitely bored as much of the programming was geared to 2yo. So there were never trips to the full pool or more adventurous excursions. She was happy to go but we ended up need ting to take her out after a few hours in order to make sure she spent time enjoying beach or sand. Also, please be prepared that everything remains “French first” on the kids programming. With the right expectations, this isn’t a huge deal, but it can difficult with more inflexible kids. It also creates real separation within the camp. However, everyone had a great time and we are considering returning if there are some refreshes made to the accommodation.

Wow… what an extraordinary week at Club Med Michès! Where do I even begin?
The resort itself is truly something special. From the beautifully thought-out design and stunning landscaping to the incredible convenience of having food, beverages, and towels available throughout the property, every detail seems to have been carefully considered. There are so many sports and activities to choose from that the list could go on forever. And the food? Absolutely delicious — I won’t even try to begin listing all the amazing options!

But what truly made our vacation unforgettable was the people.

Even at the end of a long season, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, cared for, and truly at home. Their warmth, energy, and genuine hospitality transformed an already beautiful resort into a little piece of paradise that I will carry with me for a long time.

I would especially like to give a heartfelt shout-out to some extraordinary individuals who made our week so special:

Sara from teen Club, who always had wonderful stories to share and brought such a lovely energy to our days.
Amy, the amazing yoga instructor — and clearly a woman of many talents! Her positive spirit and enthusiasm were contagious.
Kian from the Sports section, whose energy and dedication added so much to our experience.
Joel, our Pickleball attendant and player, who made every game even more enjoyable.
Johnny, our Archery instructor, who brought enthusiasm and fun to every session.
Elizabeth from Reception, who went far beyond what was expected to make our stay truly unforgettable. Her kindness and attention to detail meant so much to us.
Anne, the Sports Manager, who not only kept things running smoothly but also entertained us with her wonderful singing talents!
Danny, the Food & Beverage Manager, who added his own special touch to our experience and helped make every meal feel like part of the vacation.
Lenny the chief chef who always prepared an array of food that anyone onsite had choices beyond belief.
And last but certainly not least, Harrison, the Village Manager, who took the time to personally make our visit unique and memorable. That personal connection made a real difference.
To each and every one of you: thank you from the bottom of my heart. You didn't just provide great service — you created memories, shared your smiles and talents, and made us feel like guests who genuinely mattered.
Club Med Michès gave us a beautiful week in paradise, but the people are what made it unforgettable.
