Michès Playa Esmeralda Dominican Republic

After landing at Punta Cana airport there was a long delay of almost 2 hours to get through Customs due the large number of tourists arriving on Thursday afternoon. Then there was another half an hour wait for my baggage to come down the carousel. After another 10 minute wait at the Club Med arrival desk, I was whisked off to my transport for the 90 minute drive to Club Med Miches.
Candice greeted me warmly and gave me my room key. Off I went to my room at about 4:30pm. Only to discover the key did not work. Went back to Front Desk for a new key and downloaded the WhatsApp contact for Miches. Back at the room, the new key did not work. Contacted FD and was told to stay and wait for Maintenance to come and fix the lock as it was not a key issue. A few minutes later, Maintenance arrived with a new key but it did not work, even after attempting to fix the physical lock. However, his master key could open the door and he let me in. I was told to wait while he went back to Maintenance to see if there was anything he could do and that I might have to change rooms. He came back but could not fix the lock and to contact FD to change rooms. So, at 5:30 I contacted FD that I need to change rooms and was informed that it would take at least 2 hours to clean and prepare the new room.
I then decided to have a shower while waiting for my new room. Unfortunately, there was no; shower gel, shampoo, conditioner or moisturizer in the room. Contacted FD to have these items delivered. Had my shower and waited for my new room Around 8:00pm contacted FD and found out new room is not ready and that I should go for dinner while waiting. It wasn't until 8:52pm that I was informed the room was ready.
Overall the rooms are very nice and spacious. A handheld spray head in the shower would be nice to have in addition to the waterfall shower head. Would also like cushions on the chairs in the room.
The variety and quality of the food was excellent at the buffet restaurant and a la carte restaurants.
Rough start but my stay improved greatly after that thanks to Juan Carlos and Jonathan, the tennis GO's who I met on my last visit in May.
There was no other snags during the rest of my stay except with the reservation system for Coco Plum (a la carte restaurant). Apparently the system allows it to be overbooked so if you need to add more seats to your reservation, it is a problem and you will get told no. This is not acceptable and should you book for Coco Plum, I would suggest that you book for more guests then needed in case you make new friends or have more people wanting to join.
When making reservations at both Coco Plum and Coal & Copper you are asked if there are any dietary restrictions but after getting seated, neither restaurant asked about who had the dietary restriction or allergy.

Amazing experience! Second time here in Miches and everything was perfect. Very good food, activities and ambiance.

We just came back from a 7-night stay at Miches, and it was hands down one of the best CM resorts we’ve visited. The overall resort is in great condition, well maintained, and super well organized — food and drink service is smooth and always timely.

The dining options are excellent: Coco Plum on the beach is a perfect companion to Cayuco, plus there are bars and a really good coffee shop, so you pretty much have access to food and snacks all day. Our room was clean, stylish in the typical CM way, and the whole resort feels new and very well maintained.

The staff were warm, polite, and really helpful at every turn. We loved our time there — and we will absolutely be back.

Highly recommend.
