Punta Cana Dominican Republic

This was the first time I traveled internationally alone. I wasn't really worried because I had been to two other Club Med properties with family and I knew that Club Med always makes you feel like you are at home.

The Punta Cana resort has more than you can imagine - a waterpark for kids, spa, several pools, three restaurants, watersports, and a stunning beach.
It took me three days to scope out the property.

The massage outside in the thatched hut was a great way to start my first day. Marco was amazing and after my massage I had the spa pool to myself all day. Several days of beach, pool, Latin dance classes, and amazing food. I also took one of the expeditions to San Domingo. Please plan on taking this whole day trip, it is well worth it. We visited a chocolate factory, the 3 lakes park, and the colonial section. This trip includes a beautiful lunch.

I hate to eat dinner alone and on the first day Maeva from the Exclusive Collection joined me for dinner. Maeva and I had dinner every night, learning about our families and cultures, the fun things to do at Club Med and talking about travel. She really made my visit feel like home and my daughter was so happy that I had dinner company. I really hope when I come back that she is still there! I can't wait to introduce Maeva to my family.

After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor I was a little anxious about going to club med punta Cana. I think it’s important you take these reviews with a pinch of salt if you want to make the most of your trip. I would say the current trip advisor ranking 4.5/5 is absolutely correct.

Firstly, it’s a huge resort. They employ hundreds of people so statistically something is going to go wrong. You can read other reviews to see what - and by the looks of it the resort is on top of these issues.

The grounds are maintained beautifully, a lot of work goes into this every day. And it feels consistent. They’re probably over 100 of activities during the week. Personally I did tennis and golf. Both were enjoyable with Jorge (golf) and the tennis instructor’s organising their sessions well. I really enjoyed the lobster boat excursion - I did this with the family and it’s done in a great spirit.

The rooms were cleaned regularly and the Tiarra suite offers a really nice afternoon tea and dinner service, along with the occasional bbq.

There are loads of activities for kids. Even if you don’t use the kids clubs, you could spend all week here doing different activities from mini golf, to aqua parks and the circus.

Overall my impressions of the resort was a lot better than my expectations. And the food at el mundo was superb for a buffet- one of the best I’ve seen. I think you can have it all here.

Had a good time there ! Felt safe at all times ! The Club Med experience can truly be enjoyed in whatever way you choose. There is something for everyone—whether you feel like celebrating and being social or prefer a quieter stay, whether you want to be very active or simply relax. The flexibility of the experience is a real strength.
The only aspect that could use improvement is the food. Despite the variety of options offered, the overall quality was not entirely satisfactory, particularly due to a lack of fresh, good-quality vegetables.

A short flight from the East Coast gets you to the beautiful beach at Punta Cana where Club Med provides a carefree and exciting escape from the rigors of winter. We come back every year for the simple reason that Club Med, in addition to providing great facilities, is able to provide food for people who cannot eat gluten. Add to this the seven minute commute from the airport and you have a winner!
