Club Med responds to the challenges of environmental protection with various measures to protect nature. To promote sustainable tourism, we have joined the International Tourism Plastic Pledge program. The goal: We commit to reduce the production of plastic waste.
The launch and goals of the Bye Bye Plastic program.
Launched in 2018, the Bye Bye Plastic program is divided into three phases. The principle is to phase out single-use plastic packaging and accessories. Club Med then gave itself three years to achieve the goals set:
- Eliminate single-use plastic cutlery from the end of 2019;
- Eliminate plastic accessories in the rooms by the end of 2020;
- Replacement of plastic bottles from the year 2021, wherever possible.
Today, these goals are mostly achieved, as the rules are implemented in the majority of our resorts. Disposable cutlery has completely disappeared from our restaurants. In addition, only our resorts in Brazil and those in the Exclusive Collection still offer individual care products packaged in plastic.
Why these actions?

The elimination of plastic products and accessories has helped to significantly reduce waste production. In addition to the environmental benefits, this also meets our customers' desire for environmentally friendly tourism.
