How about spending the New Year in Andalusia this year?

Sound good? Then it's off to the port city of Marbella!
This winter, enjoy charming Marbella – a former fishing village where the sun shines and the living is easy. Still not convinced? Here are some good reasons to get your flights booked:

  • Switzerland is often cold, grey and wet at the end of the year, so enjoy the mild sunny climate in Spain instead.
What better way to start the new year than with a stroll along the beach with your feet in the sand and a fruit cocktail in your hand?
  • With temperatures around 20 °C, you can book outdoor activities for the whole family. Anyone who's feeling brave can do some breaststroke in the Mediterranean.

New Year's programme

  • If you're more of a fair-weather swimmer, you might prefer the lovely indoor pools at Club Med Magna Marbella. The Resort's different pool areas are ideal for different ages and promise good times all round.
  • Watch the traditional New Year's fireworks from the Puerto Banús pontoon.
  • Wander along the beaches and through the streets of Marbella and its old town to admire the Christmas lights and decorations still up. You'll return home buoyed by your magical stay in Spain.
One bonus of travelling at this time of year is that things are less busy. This is perfect if you want to explore the city at your own pace.

Cultural and age-old traditions

A New Year's Eve full of treats and traditions
A key part of New Year in Andalusia is its delicious gourmet food and traditions. Celebrate the change of year with the traditional Spanish countdown where you eat a grape every time the clock strikes at midnight. This tradition is said to bring joy and prosperity for each month of the coming year.
Book your table at one of the restaurants at Club Med Magna Marbella and revel in the local gourmet cuisine. Seafood, tapas, jamón ibérico and Spanish wine are all on the menu.

Have you ever tried Roscón de Reyes? This cake covered in candied fruit and sugar is flavoured with orange blossom and eaten with a steaming mug of hot chocolate. Whether plain or garnished with cream or chocolate, this traditional crown-shaped cake contains a figurine for a lucky eater to find. All ages will love it.

Go to the Three Kings' parade! Each year, Spain hosts traditional Three Kings' parades on 6 January. Christmas gifts are also given out on this day. A Three Kings' parade is an ancient Spanish tradition.
Dreaming of starting the year by the Mediterranean in the Andalusian sunshine? Book your stay at Club Med Magna Marbella today. You'll be sure to have a wonderful time away from it all. ¡Feliz Año!
