A tropical climate with 3 seasons
Unlike most other countries with a tropical climate, Thailand has three different and distinct seasons. A cold season, a hot season and a rainy season, often called the monsoon.
During the cold season, the mercury rises to a maximum of 30° C and the precipitation is less frequent and regular. This season corresponds to winter in Europe.
The hot season is a period of transition with the coming monsoon. The weather is much more humid and the mercury can climb up to 40° C in some regions. The hot season is also the time of the water festival, "Songkran", the equivalent of the Buddhist New Year. Exploring this country during this season is a great opportunity for you to discover a new culture.
Finally, the monsoon season is the last and most restrictive. During these months, expect rain for lengthy periods, every day. Heavy showers in the afternoon or at night are expected, so plan your activities for the mornings. However, the rains are often localised inland as well as on the West Coast.
